SD-WAN Evolution and AdoptionKumar Ramachandran of Palo Alto Networks on SD-WAN: Why 2020 is the 'Year of Early Majority'
Prior to COVID-19, Kumar Ramachandran of Palo Alto Networks declared 2020 the “year of the early majority” for SD-WAN adoption. How has the pandemic only amped up the need for better bandwidth, visibility and centralized management – all at a lower cost? Ramachandran explains.
In a video interview with ISMG, Ramachandran, former CEO of CloudGenix, discusses:
- The market and technology conditions that led to SD-WAN;
- The synergy between CloudGenix and Palo Alto Networks;
- How SD-WAN and SASE adoption can help enterprises navigate some of the uncertainty brought by COVID-19.
Following the acquisition of CloudGenix by Palo Alto Networks, Ramachandran serves as Senior Vice President of Products for SD-WAN and Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) at Palo Alto Networks. He co-founded CloudGenix in March 2013 and served as its CEO, establishing the category of SD-WAN. Prior to founding CloudGenix, he held leadership roles in Product Management and Marketing for the multi-billion dollar branch routing and WAN optimization businesses at Cisco. Prior to Cisco, he managed applications and infrastructure for companies such as Citibank and Providian Financial. Ramachandran holds an MBA from UC Berkeley Haas School of Business and a Master's in Computer Science from the University of Bombay.
