As a result, CISOs need to enhance their data protection skills, Pant says in a video interview with Information Security Media Group.

"The prime minister has given directions to the Ministry of Electronics and IT stating the urgency to train all CISOs to enable them protect the systems,” Pant says.

In the interview, Pant offers insights on:

  • New government initiatives to help enterprises protect the distributed workplace;
  • Security lessons to learn from the SolarWinds supply chain hack;
  • Top priorities for CISOs in 2021.

As national cybersecurity coordinator in the national security council of India at the prime minister's office, Pant is responsible for coordinating all cybersecurity activities across multiple sectors. He holds a Ph.D. in information security metrics. Pant previously headed the Army's cyber training establishment for three years. He served in the Army Signals Corps for 41 years and was honored three times by the president of India for distinguished service.
