Based on first-hand experience, Manfra knows that these agencies often run in antiquated, fortress-based government clouds, thinking those are the sole option for security and compliance. Her message is: Security and compliance don’t have to be roadblocks to innovation; they can be part of the transformation.

In a video interview with Information Security Media Group, Manfra discusses:

  • Her new role with Google Cloud;
  • Why government agencies are challenged to achieve “compliance without compromise” in their cloud adoptions;
  • How security and compliance can be turned from roadblocks to enablers of cloud transformation.

Manfra is the director of government security and compliance within the Google Cloud office of the firm's CISO. Previously, she was the assistant director of cybersecurity for the Department of Homeland Security Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency. In that role, she was responsible for driving security modernization across federal civilian agencies and enabling the security of U.S. critical infrastructure. Manfra spent more than a decade serving in various roles at the DHS and the White House, focusing on establishing the nation’s first civilian cyber defense agency.
