"We're dealing with a very dynamic and complex threat landscape. Research reports show that the more diverse teams you have to solve dynamic and complex problems, the more successful you are. That really just screams that we need more diverse teams with respect to education, experience, gender, race, ethnicity, culture," Rosso says.

In a video interview with Information Security Media Group, Rosso also discusses:

  • How diversity, equity and inclusion - or DEI - practices can help close the cybersecurity workforce gap;
  • Ways to encourage minorities to enter the cybersecurity workforce and retention strategies for companies hiring them;
  • How global security leaders can support DEI initiatives.

As CEO of (ISC)², Rosso is responsible for the organization's strategy planning, which includes supporting a diverse and talented workforce. She has more than two decades of work experience, including stints at the American Institute of CPAs and the California Institute of CPAs.
