HIMSS News Updates Coming Your Way

HIMSS News Updates Coming Your Way

This year's show, to be held Feb. 28-March 4 in Atlanta, will offer more content than ever on privacy, security, compliance and risk management issues. And I'll be filing daily updates.

This is my 17th year attending the HIMSS show, and I'm looking forward to covering educational sessions as well as conducting one-on-one interviews with CISOs, consultants and other experts.

You can rely on www.HealthcareInfoSecurity.com to provide comprehensive coverage of the HIMSS Conference, spotlighting the risk management issues that matter most.

The big event kicks off with an all-day pre-conference workshop Sunday, Feb. 28, devoted exclusively to privacy and security. It will include insights from a hospital that's been through a federal security audit.

Other highlights include:

  • A March 3 keynote address by David Blumenthal, M.D., National Coordinator for Health Information Technology. The federal government's point man on the HITECH Act hopefully will share some timely insights on compliance.
  • Attorneys will be offering advice in a March 1 session on how to handle breach notifications.
  • Many other sessions will feature real-world case study presentations on safeguarding electronic health records, personal health records and wireless networks.

I encourage you to visit www.HealthcareInfoSecurity.com starting March 1 for daily news updates. If you'd like to get together while you're at HIMSS, send me an e-mail at handerson@ismgcorp.com.

And as always, we welcome your feedback on our coverage as well as your insights on topics you'd like to see us tackle.
