Trend Micro's Ed Cabrera on the Changing Threat
The Russian cyber espionage group known as Pawn Storm, which has been around since 2004, has shifted gears to focus on cyber propaganda efforts, and security professionals need to be aware of the changing threat, says Ed Cabrera of Trend Micro.

Rather than focusing on attribution, CISOs must focus on understanding the motivation of cybercriminals and then build effective resiliency plans, he says.

Cabrera is chief cybersecurity officer at Trend Micro, where he is responsible for analyzing emerging cyber threats to develop innovative and resilient enterprise risk management strategies for Fortune 500 clients and strategic partners. Before joining Trend Micro, he was a 20-year veteran and former CISO of the United States Secret Service with experience leading information security, cyber investigative and protective programs in support of the Secret Service integrated mission. He started his career investigating transnational cybercriminal groups targeting the financial and retail sectors.
